About St Clement Danes Church
St Clement Danes stands on the Strand in Westminster, close to the Royal Courts of Justice, as an Anglican church with a long and layered past. Wren completed the present building in 1682, though it occupies a site said to have held a church since the 9th century. Bombing in the Blitz gutted the building, and it was not restored until 1958, when it became the central church of the Royal Air Force.
