About St Edmundsbury Cathedral
St Edmundsbury Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, a Church of England cathedral standing in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Its origins reach back to the 11th century, and the building was rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries while it served as a parish church. It only became a cathedral in 1914. Substantial enlargements in recent decades have given it considerably more room.
