About Wells Cathedral

Wells Cathedral sits at the heart of the Somerset city that shares its name, serving as home to the bishop of Bath and Wells and the principal church of that diocese. Daily services are held in the building, and in 2023 it was reported to draw over 300,000 visitors a year. Its precincts also hold the Bishop's Palace and Vicars' Close, a fifteenth-century close of buildings once linked to the medieval chapter of secular canons.
