About Olamide

Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, known simply as Olamide, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record executive who works in Yoruba and English. Born in Bariga, Lagos, on 15 March 1989, he is regarded as one of the most influential artists in Nigeria and Africa, and has been central to the success of several Afrobeats stars. Running his own YBNL Nation imprint gives him a rare vantage point on the industry around him.

His debut album, Rapsodi, came out in 2011 while he was still signed to ID Cabasa's Coded Tunes, and its lead single, "Omo To Shan", gained airplay across Lagos and Nigeria. He left Coded Tunes in 2012 to focus on YBNL Nation, and the album YBNL followed that November, carried by "Ilefo Illuminati" and "Stupid Love". Baddest Guy Ever Liveth arrived on 7 November 2013 and went on to win Album of the Year at The Headies 2014. Later releases include 2 Kings with Phyno, Eyan Mayweather and The Glory, and in November 2023 he received a Grammy nomination for "Amapiano" alongside Asake.
