The world is against you

Drone, post-punk and shoegaze are the three labels attached to The World Is Against You, a band from Wellington. Thomas Waddington has been with the act since it was formed in 2024, making him the one constant across its short history. The line-up now numbers four. Given how recently the group formed, the catalogue is compact, an EP and an album so far.

Ezra Beckett, Rhys Hicks and Stefan Jenkins all joined in 2025, the year the group released the EP Pat on the back. Patron Saint followed in 2026 as a full-length album, and the two releases so far make up the band's discography. Together they offer a clear place to start for anyone new to the act. The three newer members are all credited from 2025 onward, joining Waddington in the group's current form. Listeners who want to hear how the band's sound has developed will find the two releases a useful pair.
