NPG Records and the Prince Estate will release an expanded edition of 3121, Prince's 2006 album, on 11 December 2026. The anniversary reissue adds ten recordings from the vault, plus a Blu-ray of previously unreleased concert footage from Las Vegas, as reported by Musikexpress.

The expanded edition comes digitally, as a 3LP set and as a 2CD set. According to Musikexpress, each physical edition includes the Blu-ray of the concert, which was recorded in 2007.

Ten tracks from the vault

The first disc carries the original 12-track album, from "3121" and "Black Sweat" to "Fury" and "Get On the Boat". The second disc gathers the vault recordings: "Time of Ur Life", "The Streets of Panama", "Another Girl", "Elixer", "Glass Cutter", "Ur'e Such A Tease" and "Girls In the Band". Acoustic versions of "The Word", "Love" and "Te Amo Corazón" complete the set. Musikexpress says the selection includes previously unreleased songs and alternative versions. "Time of Ur Life" is already available to hear.

The concert in three formats

The footage on the Blu-ray comes from a show during Prince's months-long residency at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The recording of the 20 January 2007 performance is also due out as a standalone album on 27 November, titled "3121 Las Vegas Live", as part of Record Store Day Black Friday. It will be available as a double CD and as a triple LP on crystal-blue vinyl.

The setlist pairs songs from 3121 and MUSICOLOGY with older material such as "Purple Rain", "Kiss", "Cream", "Pink Cashmere" and "If I Was Your Girlfriend". There are also covers of "Crazy" (Gnarls Barkley) and "Play That Funky Music" (Wild Cherry).

From 3 December, the concert is also due to screen for a limited run in selected cinemas as "Prince: 3121 Las Vegas Concert". Musikexpress expects this to be limited to the US and Canada. The 154-minute film has been restored in 4K and is slated to be shown with Dolby Atmos sound in suitably equipped venues.

Where the album stands

3121 made chart history: no previous Prince album had debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in the US. It was his fourth chart-topper overall, following PURPLE RAIN (1984), AROUND THE WORLD IN ONE DAY (1985) and BATMAN (1989). It followed MUSICOLOGY (2004), which Musikexpress describes as a commercial comeback.

Musically, Musikexpress says, the album runs from the stripped-back electro-funk of "Black Sweat" and the sensual soul of "Te Amo Corazón" to the rock sound of "Fury", alongside elaborately constructed pop arrangements. The title comes from a house in Los Angeles where Prince was living at the time, and where he hosted parties and recording sessions.
