fakemink and Skepta release collaborative single Chiltern Firehouse

The London rappers have joined forces on a new track co-produced by fakemink with Angelus and Musa, Stereogum reports.

· Updated

London rappers fakemink and Skepta have released a collaborative single, Chiltern Firehouse, Stereogum reported on 16 October 2026. fakemink co-produced the track with Angelus and Musa.

Stereogum's Tom Breihan describes the song as opening as a fakemink piece in full: whispery, druggy and inward-looking. Skepta then enters, and Breihan writes that the clarity of his vocals is so sharp it can sound harsh. According to the review, Skepta attacks the beat while fakemink drifts across it. Breihan calls it a clash of styles and says he finds it pretty cool.

Two lineages of UK rap

Stereogum presents the pairing as a meeting of different generations. It says fakemink has emerged within the last couple of years with a murky, lo-fi sound that sits well apart from the fast grime and drill that previously shaped UK rap. The outlet adds that this style does not necessarily suit live shows. His recent album Terrified, released on EtnaVeraVela, appeared on Stereogum's mid-year best-of list. Since then he has put out the one-off singles Love Is A Dog From Hell and Love Of The Game 3.

Skepta, in Stereogum's account, rose through the early grime scene and became one of its biggest names. Last month he released Innocent Smile, a collaboration with dance producers Chase & Status and Madness frontman Suggs, as part of a move into EDM DJing. Stereogum gives his age as 44, more than double fakemink's.

How they connected

Stereogum reports that the two met earlier this year when both performed at CLOUT Festival in Warsaw. They also appear together in a new Stone Island advertising campaign, according to the same source.

Skepta's new album, The Fork And Knife, is due on 6 November through Big Smoke, Epic and Sony, Stereogum states. The source does not say whether Chiltern Firehouse will feature on that record, and no further release details for the single were supplied.
